I love Farrow and Ball’s description of their delightful green color, Cooking Apple Green. “It is a Farrow & Ball classic which always feels charmingly familiar and, like all greens, creates the feeling of health and vigor. It has a rich, old-fashioned appeal in darker situations, but becomes fresh and pretty with a botanical twist, in well-lit rooms and when contrasted with a bright white.”
Cooking Apple Green can be used in many different settings including kitchen cabinets, bathroom walls, outside paint on houses, bedrooms and the list goes on! It truly is better against white or a bold stand-out color as you will see in some of our pictured examples.
I simply adore Cooking Apple Green as the main color on this Beacon Hill home. Here is Word of Mouth Painting explaining their use of colors on this charming home:
“One of the stand-out projects from the summer was the multi-colored Farrow & Ball treatment we gave this heritage home near Beacon Hill Park. The siding of the home is painted in Cooking Apple Green. The creamy white trim is House White. The dark pinstripe and gutters are one of our favorite colors called Downpipe. We painted the rear balcony door Fruitful (an archived pink color from Farrow & Ball). We used a light blue called Pale Powder on the soffits and upper front doors. Finally, the front stairs and deck are painted, Olive. Seven colors make for a rich combination, but we really had fun with this one!” Word of Mouth Painting
Cooking Apple Green is handsome in this drawing-room. It is bright and airy against the white fireplace, cream rug, and beautiful natural lighting. The green sofa and floral drapery bring natural, spring-like elements into the space. It is such a serene room, highlighted with this charming paint color.
Cooking Apple Green can be striking on kitchen cabinets in the right environment. The above cabinets are custom work from The Olive Branch Kitchens. The cabinets pop against the white subway tile. The natural wood elements bring the outside into the space, paired with the green paint color. The olive and white Roman shades are a perfect shade to pop off Cooking Apple Green. The color must be used carefully in kitchens. It is important that the space have the correct lighting and a fun, airy spirit to pull it all together.
Cooking Apple Green on this outside door leading to a summer garden is perfection! It blends so wonderfully with the charming garden and stone pathway.
Cooking Apple Green is quite suitable, even for a Prince! With inviting new interiors by Annabel Elliot, Prince Charles’s sixteenth-century house in Cornwall has been restored and redecorated. Green is such a serene, relaxing color for a bathroom and Cooking Apple Green is so inviting in this room with the pouring in of natural light, the white clubfoot tub, and the sheer window treatments, allowing floods of light and sunshine into this cozy space.
Cooking Apple Green is handsome in this New Town apartment project by Christopher Howard Bespoke Cabinets. This room color brings the perfect environment for reading, studying, and drinking tea with friends. There is just enough natural light and pops off white to bring it all together.
What do you guys think of this vibrant green color by Farrow and Ball? I hope this will inspire you to try green in your space. It is such a wonderful way to bring the feeling of nature to your home. I love this quote by Christi Wharton “Green is a color that can evoke powerful emotions. It is a dominant color in nature that makes you think of growth. Think of nature and see the incredible variety of shades of green expressing renewal and life. Green evokes a feeling of abundance and is associated with refreshment and peace, rest and security. https://www.impactplus.com/blog/the-psychology-of-design-the-color-green.
