Kitchen remodels are a wonderful investment in your home but they can also be very costly. If a renovation is not within the budget, you can still do small things to your kitchen to make a big difference. We transformed this kitchen nook from blah to fabulous in five easy steps. We hope these tips will help you take steps to update your space!
Remove the Clutter
There were too many loose and scattered pieces in this nook area, making it feel cluttered. The first step was removing all the mismatched pieces. We wanted it to feel warm, cozy, and inviting but also clean and fresh. We also wanted it to have a feeling of unity.

Repaint or change the Wallpaper
In most kitchens, wallpaper needs to be updated every 5-10 years. It is wonderful but often trendy and can also become “tired” and grungy after a few years. We updated the faux paint style wallpaper with a gorgeous gray tone on tone geometric design.
Update the Flooring or Add Rugs
The next step was updating the floor. It was extremely dull and outdated. It was definitely builder-grade. We replaced it with an affordable faux wood floor so it is still conducive to the wear and tear, thrills, and spills of the kitchen area. It looks just like real wood! Replacing the flooring can be more expensive, so if it’s not in the budget, try some indoor-outdoor rugs in the breakfast area.

Lighting
Lighting fixtures can quickly become dated not to mention that the chandelier was too small for this particular space. The space immediately felt illuminated and fresh as soon as this chandelier was installed. We also added some lovely antique lamps to add a little age and added warmth.

Add Curtains and Upholstery
This is a spectacularly large breakfast nook space. The existing table was definitely too small and this nook had plenty of room for a large table and chairs. We love the cozy look of the banquette covered in a stain-resistant fabric! We added large upholstered chairs and pillows to complete the welcoming sitting space. We added drapery to the French doors to add warmth and privacy. The thin blinds were not providing any insulation. Lamps were placed on each side of the gorgeous banquette to add extra lighting plus it gave the space an extra homey look.

We were so excited about the finished look! The kitchen didn’t have to be gutted in order to be wonderfully transformed! We hope these five easy steps will help you get started in your breakfast nook. Please share any of your transformations in the comments section.
