2020 was a pretty tough year, so the more the reason to make my house warm and glowy for Christmas! Of course, money was tighter than usual so I decided to find a few themes and stick with them and find ways to bring those themes to life as cheaply as possible. I decided one theme would be gold. Gold is most enchanting, especially during the Christmas season. It has a wonderful warm glow that pairs beautifully with all the magnificent holiday lights.
I love my dining room chandelier, purchased during my design studio days. It will forever be a favorite. I simply tied my favorite gold ribbon in a bow and put a few pieces of Christmas tree clippings around each bulb. I would work a little harder on my ribbon cuts this time around but overall I think it was such a delicate, sweet look. I never tired of enjoying the festive look throughout the season. The total on this look was around five dollars.

I love my glamorous sunburst mirror over my fireplace mantle. I decided to take pine clippings from my Christmas tree, and I loosely twirled the ribbon around the pine. I placed twinkle lights under the ribbons for a lovely warm glow. For the mantle, I added a thin gold ribbon around some plain white candles to dress them up for the Christmas season. I then added the same gold ribbon around more Christmas tree clippings and pretty much had my simple mantle and mirror design completed for a total of around fifteen dollars.
I bought this mirror for a client but it didn’t work in her space, therefore, I had the great privilege of bringing it home to live with me! I simply put up my gold “Mery Christmas” (sweet dollar store find) and added more Christmas tree clippings and a coordinating gold ribbon around the sides. A good little look for about $3.
As you may be able to tell by now, I love sunburst design! I simply put more Christmas tree clippings around the sconces in my dining room and added some twinkle lights. I purchased the lovely prayer candles at the dollar store and simply added gold ribbon around the sides. I love the idea of prayer candles and I do say a prayer every time I light them.
I changed up my mantle just a bit by adding a beautiful gold candle and some stocking holders from the dollar store that I just LOVE!
I simply filled up a vase with some existing gold balls, added corresponding white and gold ribbons, and found this fabulous starlight set. I love how the stars also reflect off the table and the antiqued mirrored vases.
I hope you like these gold vignette budget ideas. I bought 3-4 rolls of coordinating gold, cream, and sisal ribbon and placed them with Christmas tree clippings around my dining and living room. I definitely prefer wired ribbon as it is easier to work around. Sometimes, it is easier to buy the ribbon in groupings, to make sure they coordinate, and to save a little money. I plan to create some fresh new ones this Christmas and I will be sharing them soon! I hope your Christmas is full of magic and gold this year!
Here are a few of my favorite gold ribbon sets from Amazon! They coordinate and can be used all around the house. I love these for gift wrapping also. I will be using these on white and possibly brown paper this year!
